Leaving for Vancouver!!!

The long-awaited day has finally arrived. We took EVA Air from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei (transit) and then to Vancouver. We left at 3.20pm on the 24th June from  KLIA. After almost 24 hours, we arrived at the Vancouver International Airport. The plane ride was fairly pleasant with a 2 hour delay in Taipei.

We checked in to our accommodation at Fairview Crescent which is within the University of British Columbia (UBC). Fairview Crescent offers townhouse-style suites in a vibrant, friendly community. All suites have private entrances, multilevel layouts and comfortable furnishings.

On Saturday, 25th June, we went out for breakfast at Denny's. The food portion here was ginormous! We then took a small round around the campus and got to experience how the campus life was here. We visited the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences . Everything in the building from the lecture halls to the labs to the common spaces were state-of-the-art.

On the next day, 26th June, we went to multiple places around Vancouver. After a dim sum breakfast, we went to Burnaby Mountain. You could see the whole of beautiful Vancouver from the top. It was breathtaking. Then, we went to the Simon Fraser University and saw their fantastic infrastructure. Coincidentally, they were having their convocation on that day and we were lucky to have witnessed that.

At noon, we went to Stanley Park. It was a huge and scenic park. It is a natural rainforest with beautiful beaches, historical landmarks and even an aquarium!

After a sushi dinner, we went for a walk at the Queen Elizabeth Park. At 152 metres above sea level, it is the highest point in Vancouver we witnessed spectacular views of the park, city, and mountains on the North Shore. This 52-hectare park is also home to the stunning Bloedel Conservatory. There is also a gorgeously landscaped quarry garden, the arboretum with its collection of exotic and native trees, sculptures including one by internationally renowned artist Henry Moore, and diverse recreational offerings such as tennis, lawn bowling and pitch & putt.
